I am not a trucker but I do have the utmost respect for them. I wanted to stop by and introduce myself and make sure all the truckers out there hear about the 2010 Bandit Run. We leave from Braselton, GA on May 16th and will be making stops in Tifton, GA, Ocala, FL, Daytona Beach, Jupiter, and finish up in Orlando on May 20th. There will probably be around 100 classic Trans Ams and that big beautiful Snowman rig. I believe the "Buford T. Justice" Le Mans will be joining us this year too. Since I'm new, I'm not sure where to post this information. If someone would advise, I would appreciate it. I can answer any questions you have about this year's run and post a schedule of our stops.

So is this run every year then? Do you ever make it to minnesota or the midwest area? I know a lot of people that would enjoy seeing all that.

We do this every year in May. This is our 4th year. We haven't been up that way yet. However, our sponsor is from Lincoln, NE so one of these years we could head out that way. We usually end up at Year One in Braselton, GA so we can't go too far from there. This year we are starting from Braselton instead. That Snowman replica truck is a sight to see. Last year was the 1st time it joined the run. I love looking in the side mirror and seeing that beauty coming up behind us. The truckers loved it! My husband thought it was funny because I took a bunch of pictures of the truck drivers taking pictures of all of us. I feel like the trucks are a part of the run too. What good is Bandit without Snowman? So if y'all are going to be anywhere near our route, have your cameras ready. It's quite a sight seeing all that American muscle rolling down the highway en mass. Most of us have CBs so give us a holler. Last year's run was our tribute to Jerry Reed. This year we are headed to Burt's hometown to celebrate the Bandit.

You laugh but we would love it! We of course, have the TAs, we have the truck, and one of our runners drives the "Smokey car". I have a friend with a big red 70s caddy and I try desperately every year to convince him to bring it on the run. Yep, Bandit Runners are crazy but it truly is a great group of people. Everyone is welcome you don't have to drive a Pontiac. We have had people in all types of cars and SUVs come along for the party. One guy even flew over from England to join the fun.

Sorry you can't make it this year. Maybe next May. I understand about Talladega. That is where my husband and I went on our honeymoon. I am not in charge of routes. I organize the events and the media. However, we always do a mix of highways and secondary roads. It is fun to go through the small towns. Sometimes people will line the streets and hold up "Go bandit" signs. We like to take some scenic routes. I know we are taking a secondary route down to Macon GA. We will be on 75 part of the day on Monday May 17th. The schedule and stops are listed on our website. I am not sure if I am allowed to post it or not but if you search for the bandit run , you should be able to find it.

Does anyone know the story behind the CB handle of Jerry Reed's character? Was it something to do with illicit narcotics? Really, just wondering.

Just a guess. But snowman could refer to some one whom lays the stories on rather thick.

Otherwise a white man in a black community?
