You need to tell us your experience, how many miles under your belt, what's your MVR look like, etc? Local jobs (the good ones, at least) are generally picky when hiring.

I always steer younger drivers towards LTL because I think that's the best combination of pay, bennies, and hometime you can find driving a truck.

So? Go local. It really isn’t as hard as people make you believe. In certain areas, you’ll take home double what many OTR drivers make.

    Seems simple ;-)

I got in a local dedicated account, worked my ### off, now I'm practically super-dedicated. All I do is make $$$.

But I loved otr. Any local that hasn't done otr is lame in my book.

Come to northeast PA. Plenty of local jobs here. $25/hour and up.

Why? Are they not paying well, or is it that they can't find anyone that can pass the pee test?

Drugs. I go through there a lot, and EVERYBODY has a sign or banner out. OD, Estes, Central, all the union guys ( if it exist in CO ), and some of the terminals are GIGANTIC, hundreds of day cabs in each one.

I lived in Boulder and Fort Collins for about a year when I worked in the renewable energy sector. If I thought I could afford to live in the Denver area working as a local driver, I'd pack up and head out there tomorrow. Even a $100K salary might get you an apartment in the ghetto these days.
