WOW... That there just really inspires me to want to drop everything I am doing or need to so I can research what would be a good company for you to apply to.. I wouldn't want you to have to do the work...

So.. no preference on truck color.. you are pretty open there right..

    pattyj and tow614 Thank this.

Should have done research before going to school. Find a company that would be willing to hire you and get a realistic idea of income to expect. When i started my goal was to do otr for a year then go local. That was 11 years ago. Still doing otr and staying out for a month at a time. Always looking for something local but in my area the pay for local drivers is insulting.
A lot of guys go to driving school on government funds then bail when they find out how difficult of a lifestyle it is.

Unfortunately, don't rely on any 7/7, 5/5 program to escape the reality of OTR. The longer you're out, the more $$ you'll make and Gordon was so bad on the 'Mythical' 5/5--out 5-1/2, home 1-1/2--first 30 loads, 13 were under 200 miles ($60) and loading/unloading and scales were a 'gift' to Gordon. Ridiculous.

Don't lose sight, though, that when a small company is shorthanded, it's an emergency. Even a larger company. As the terminal manager of Mid-States Express told me in 2008, "I'm putting down that you pulled your own equipment around, tractor and trailer, and don't tell me it wasn't."

Well, it was my 2-axle dump truck or Chev Cheyenne and trailer and my big yellow toys couldn't have been pulled by either those trucks or the trailer. I had put down my straight truck miles with dump truck and noted that I pulled a pintle-hitch trailer. Truck and trailer. Heavy equipment operator. : 0)

/Hi, tow614. Pic still looks great! Keystroking simultaneously, hundreds of miles apart. Ha-ha! Great minds...

First off Adam I was not picking one bit,I simply asked a question is all.You didn't explain yourself so me asking the question goes with your post.Secondly your speeding ticket goes hand in hand with what companies to choose. So if you don't want opinions on things then don't even mention it when you post.

Well you're asking our opinion about making an informed choice, which many of us think the reckless driving ticket is very important so I will say something about it because it may not just limit you in a job but can prevent you from getting one because of the insurance the company may have. This should have been discussed by the school you are at to make sure everyone is clear about the realities of this business.

Did you go to court to fight this ticket or just paid it?

Did you get the ticket at the hospital or going there?

These two things may be asked by your future employer and depending on how you answer them, you may not get a job.

Also.. if I were in your situation.. I would have all the documents to back it up.. meaning, get copies of your ticket or court records that state when and wher you got the ticket.. and the hospital records showing your daughter's visit.. so that you have proof solid that you were pulled over on your way to the hospital..

Because, everyone who has a speeding ticket has a reason why.. so they have heard it all before.. so you need to back up your statements...

Even then, it will still be difficult because there are hundreds of new drivers graduating every day.. many with no DUIs or speeding tickets..

You may not like what we are saying.. but.. it is the truth.. and that is what you need to make an informed decision...

It wouldn't hurt to go ex parte into the same court, armed with all the information, explain that you will be hindered in your trucking career with this on your record and ask that 'in the interest of justice' the court expunge your record of this ticket.

Ex parte - not on calendar. Some courts will not let you appear without notice. Then you need file a noticed motion. An atty will probably look over your paperwork for a reasonable fee. Miranda's motion to the US Supreme was hand-written on lined notebook paper in pencil, IIRC. A landmark decision.

I have been doing the research. My self I was trying to others opinion on those places or a place they might know of. How ever I was not asking for snide comments on why I was seeking to get fast medical care for my baby girl when in looked like she was having a heart attack. Turned out to be a collapsed lung and if I had to do it again I would.

I have been researching that's what I'm doing now I don't start school till the 14th. Also I'm not using goverment money to pay for my school I'm paying cash out of my pocket. This is somthing I want to do not have to do. I'm good on most any pay per mile that's not my concern. Money's somthing I have plenty of I am starting this career out of a desire and want. Not out of a need. I'll take my time and find a good fit I'm leaning to maverick due to some excellent comuinacation I've had with some drivers on here. Thank for ur input tho I greatly appreciate any and all form experianced guys and gals
