I honestly dont have a accurate answer i know you can drive a car here but not sure on that i would call the fmcsa at 1-800-832-5660

You have so many days to change your license over to a state license. Most say it's 90 days. You'll have to check with the states DMV before you drive. Besides a company is not going to let you until you're legal. It's best to check now so you will not have any surprises. You may even find out that any out of country CDL is no good in the States. So now is the time to check and the best place is where they issue the license.

Yeah Pardner, You'll need to get a N.M. CDL BEFORE you drive a CMV on the highway.
