It started long before the "recession"....try taking a closer look at what is being "taught" in the public school system!

"Orders"? "Ignorance"?? "Argumentative behavior"??? "Fabricating false stories"????

Really, would you rather they fabricated true stories? Argumentative(?)...did they have the nerve to question YOU? Or did they not understand what you were trying to get across? Ignorance huh(?)...somehow they got through the truck school, the road test, orientation...yet they are "ignorant"...I don't think so, maybe in your opinion, but evidently not in others. And "orders"(?)...you may think you're the "Captain of your "ship"", but do you have title to the ownership of your "ship"...NO, you said yourself you are a company driver, so you are in the working class, and an instructor....NOT A DICTATOR!

I'm sorry for you! Evidently you feel you know all the answers and the exact way to work this industry....what you are, actually, or should be considering, is the point that your title as "trainer" is, in all aspects, a teacher, an instructor, a passer of knowledge. To do this well, one needs to be able to explain the simplest of things in a multitude of ways, with a consideration of opposing points of view, to be able to communicate without bias. I feel you have more to learn than you are willing or able to teach. Humility is a plus in your chosen position of teaching.....I'm sure you will not agree, and accuse me of "not knowing what I am talking about"....au contrere mon ami...I was a trainer for well over a decade, and gave up trying to teach for a couple of the reasons you initially stated.....but I never claimed to be a dictator....I knew and understood what teaching is and what it should entail!

Perhaps a bit of "self examination" and a touch of some time away from teaching could do you good.

The public school system is Politically Correct. Not just trucking, but all companies are having problems with too many employees looking for reasons to be offended and thinking the world owes them everything. People even take their mothers with them to job interviews so she can protect them from a prospective employer who is out to get them. If you're not a Politically Correct person, you're fast becoming a minority. Outlaw1_2003 has valid points, and if I were in his situation, would quit being a trainer. Let some PC trainer take over and the trainer & trainee can drive around the USA offending each other and thinking they are normal. I don't think outlaw1_2003 is racist; it's hard to deal with anyone or any race, if they have a chip on their shoulder or a sense of entitlement or went to PC schools.

Outlaw1_2003 doesn't sound like a racist at all. He said he'd teach anyone who wants to learn - doesn't matter who. Meaning he ISN'T a racist. That is an over-abused term! 99% of the time it doesn't even make sense to say it. My daughters are part Cherokee Indian, so if "Outlaw" said he'd train whites & Indians, I wouldn't think he's againstmy daughters or the Cherokee Indians. I think he wrote it that way, because there ARE different cultures in this country. Who could blame him for being fed up with disrespectful new graduates. Going into Wal-mart or any other place of business nowadays, I'm continually faced with a generation whose idea of what's acceptable is 3/4 of their boxer shorts hanging out that's if my daughter and I are lucky enough to not have to see 3/4 of somebody WITHOUT boxers on! Now am I racist for giving an example of the culture that does that more than any other culture? NO. I'm fed up with seeing their boxer shorts and their "other business" , not to mention their bad attitutes. Like Bill Cosby said, "Let the spankings begin!" I love Bill Cosby....can't be a racist if I love Bill Cosby now can I! I miss the way it was when we ALL taught our children and their friends to show some respect- especially toward their elders - that didn't mean OLD either! Outlaw1_2003 is correct in that lecture to the youngsters! I'd be willing to bet, if he has a son, he raised him to be a real man and made real men out of the new hires! That's what's wrong with "kids" today. They can't handle a little "barking" and give up, cry, or quit. My 15 year old daughter can work circles around quite a few men we've seen. My rough-neck, husband always says so, especially when he was the boss over men in heavy construction. He meant it when he said his daughter can "out man" them. He made them better men. Myself and daughters included! There's nothing wrong with a woman who can handle being barked at without crying and be able to survive a disaster; i.e., hurricanes and barking bosses. There's no tails to tuck at our house (see album). We all work hard and take hard critisism when it's required.
