I got an owi in upper michigan almost five years ago, my charges were not intoxicated, but IMPAIRED, which is lower...I understand its still bad, but I paid my dues and this was on a personal DL and not a CDL. Well, now Im a newbie with a class a CDL and am wondering if there is a "grey area" here and whether or not it even matters...also if there is some decent companies out there hiring newbies with no exp, please let me know. Thanks all!
Impaired, not intoxicated four years, eleven months old, is there a difference?

yes. At least 30 days difference. The few apps I've filled out the cutoff has been a min of 5 yrs. Not sure about local or any other companies. Also depends a lot on how the app is specifically worded. Some ask "ever" and wont consider less than 5 yrs. Keep at it. Looking at various websites. Qualifications are posted.

well that is just the point. on one app, they asked if I had ever had an Intoxicated charge...which I havent...I had an IMPAIRED...so, technically I'm not lying...but I dont wanna screw myself either..I can wait the month out, thats not a big deal..

they are fighting the EPA and some hippies over getting some new mines started...jobs will open then... But remember the closest interstate is Duluth from Ironwood...and thats two hours away... God I love it there

You're splitting hairs and ask yourself is it worth the gamble? If I were in your position I would ask. I would also find out if it makes a difference if when you got your oui you did not have a CDL. It's best to be up front and make sure you fully know what the company is asking. If you don't they could put a note in your DAC if they subscribe to it and if they do you're doomed.madmax72 Thanks this. -

Insurance companies KNOW.....I had a dui in the 70's, was reduced to reckless driving, big deal, my insurance didn't matter. DUI, reckless, impaired, all the same.
