Hello guys. I am in a terrible situation now. I have paid all money to canadian seller. My bank transferred it few days back. I flew to vancouver BC and picked up truck but at border they said this truck can't be imported as it doesn't conforms to EPA standards. They rejected truck's entry into US.
Before take it to border i got letter of compliance from its manufacturer which is Peterbilt. It says "This vehicle also complied with all U.S Federal motor vehicle Safety standards and Environment Protection Agency regulations in effect on the date of manufacture"
But Custom border protection officer found this other label on door which says "This equipment is solely for export and therefore exempt under 40 CFR 1068.230 from U.S emission standards and related requirements"
Therefore they have rejected the entry of this truck. I am so confused this truck is 2014 Peterbilt 386 with DEF system. How it can't meet EPA requirements.
I am so tensed drove it back to Canada.
Guys please suggest me what can i do further. If u need any further information i can provide that too.
    :( :( :(

Why isn't your import broker getting it imported.
I would think that is what you paid for.

    Good luck.

I bought a 2000 KW from a dealer in Saskatchewan this year. He had to acquire a new EPA sticker from Cat to be allowed across the border. It had originally been sold in Washington though and then exported to Canada.

    Good luck!

I would think your broker needs to earn his money and do what is necessary to get the truck into the US.

I agree. Make the customs broker do their job. That's what you pay them for. They need to find out exactly what the problem is, and how to fix it.

Bean Jr. and simongrewal Thank this.

Yes but border officials gave me warning in written that if i ever try to import this truck again through any other port of entry then the vehicle would be seized and they would issue me penalty equal to price of vehicle.
