I know this is an old dead thread but you can import any truck you want - it would just have to go sit in a RI import lot for a 30 day hold.

Only if it complies with USDOT and EPA regulations. In this new one, unless it's a glider, it is not EPA compliant.

30 day hold happens no matter what? is there a criteria? I want to know the procedure to sell trucks from Canada to US as a semi truck dealership.

The truck needs a label on the door jam that says.

Truck adheres to all US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards to avoid the 30 day hold.

Bean Jr. and shubhammacro Thank this.

Because it's a commercial vehicle you need to use a Registered Importer.

You will also need the current province vehicle registration in your name/business name.

Check out the CBP website or US customs and Immigration website for details of what potential import duties you may be up for. Make sure you have some kind of bill of sale if you bought it for below what any blue book value may be, as CBP may work off this if you can't prove what you paid for the Truck.
