Camera's can help or hurt you, depending on the circumstances. If you're doing what you're supposed to it can be a great asset. As far as the camera's view of the driver, just put a piece of tape over the lense.

Wow really? While on the road for weeks at a time and the truck (Including the cab) being your private space while not driving that is NO GOOD. What about the Owner Operators that flat out own their trucks and the truck is their home? You expect them to be on TV all the time? Or like every driver under the sun does... gets out of their truck while logged on "Sleeper Berth" to go get food, walk around, take a shower, etc and the company decides "Hey, your on slepper berth time, your fired for falsifying your log!"

Ridiculous.... We minus well let the owners of apartments and homes put cameras in the homes they are renting out of every person to insure they dont damage their home, or have unauthorized pets, or hammer a nail in the wall to hang a picture...

No, the company wont say anything about the tape covering the lens...(lol)

The only dash cams I have in my truck are on the drivers and passengers side of my KW. I use them to record the traffic ahead of me,,and yes i have caught a lot of state cops flying past my truck like their tail was on fire,,caught quite a few accidents on them. If i have to stop for the night at a TA or Petro I move the cameras to watch the outside of the truck, mainly the doors and down the side of the truck and whatever im hauling.
The day anyone tells me there gonna install a cam to watch me drive my own truck is the day hell freezes over.
Put a piece of tape over the lens you say,,naw,,out the window somewhere on the I-90,,lol..

Any driver that doesn't want a camera in the cab is guilty of something they shouldn't be doing. They aren't pointed at you in the sleeper watching you spank it so get over it.

No one ever said the cameras would be pointed towards the sleeper... your missing the point and principal of the whole issue. There are a ton of things a driver can be doing in his driver seat (or co-drivers seat) the camera can catch that is not exactly something the driver should not be doing. You never sit in your driver seat while not logged on duty or driving? if you say no, you have lost all credibility... you could be in your driver seat logged on sleeper and lets say some dumb England driver runs clear into your truck... the camera will start recording from the impact and there you are caught falsifying your log. Not saying you will get fired for it.. but you would be caught. and I am sure there are many more examples. Just sick the only example you thought of was masturbating.
