You can pay it off, but unless you complete the time on the contract, you will have a CDL with no certificate of having received training, unless they have really changed things to benefit their drivers(not gonna happen). If you can still avoid signing the contract, look into alternatives for using the training you received from the CDL school and paying for same.

I for one applaud you for doing what you have to do to take care of your family. Its awesome you have people that are there for you and willing to help out and watch your kids while you do this. My advice is this. Quit listening to all the negative and focus on the positive. Give CRST a chance and get your own opinion of them. Don't let people discourage you, and fill your had full of BS. Yes, CRST is a bottom feeder company, and yes they are far from the best. But, where would we be without bottom feeders to give us newbies jobs and experience that we so desperately need in order to go on to bigger and better things. Stick with them for the 8 months, learn as much as you can during that time, and go on to something better. CRST its just a Sterling stone for us. Don't run things before you even get started. Pay your dues and you will be rewarded. In the scope of things, 8 months isn't that long. You will do just fine.
Lonesome and 27butterfly13 Thank this. -

They will tell you up to the day you are officially hired, which is the last day of orientation that you can be denied employment. The truth is, as long as everything checks out you will get hired. If you test dirty, fail the road test, lied on the application...etc, that is when you will not get hired.

you can get hired with any company after CRST. Most companies know that CRST is a bad company. I quit them after three weeks and got hired immediatly with another company. I would highly recommend a company that hauls dry cement and sand. They are normally all local and they train you to drive doubles (which are easier than a 53') . The pay is good (average about 900 a week, take home), and they hire newbies.

I've seen much worse around here. I think working for CRST is a bigger problem than not being a good speller.

I worked for CRST for a year and a half. I had no problem getting hired elsewhere. Most people you see having that problem are people who backed out of their contract. No company will hire you if you do that.
