I have been reading alot of the other threads and still havent seemed to get any answers. Me and my husband are getting our cdl in the next few weeks, and in the meantime are trying to find a company that we can start with that will let us have pets, and also let us train together. I have read mostly bad things about every single company so im starting to think well... its gonna suck no matter where we are. But as far as training together, its important becuase I dont think i can train alone. Hes not that much more comfortable doing it than I am. we have found covenant, cr england, and maybe schneider that will let us train together. And also I figure even tho covenant is supposedly horrible, its not like well be there forever, get what we want like having our dogs with us, being together, and training together and making more money than we are right now is better than our current situation. Even if is ###### pay or crappy company its only for a short period of time till we switch to a new company and get some experience. I would like to get some advice and some suggestions from other people on some good companys to team for that will allow pets. It seems like trucking is like a game you have to play and watch out for all the crap people say is bad. I dont want to read on here oo they did this and they do that. Ive read that stuff i wanna hear from people any good experiences or honest advice. Does it really matter your first year where you go as long as your not buying into all of there crap like leasing trucks and insurance plans? who knows it mite not even be for a whole year. And most of all it would be nice to read team husband/wife drivers comments more so than solo drivers. Thanks to all![]()

Dang! From the main page the title said "In Search of a Good Husband".
But sounds like you got a good knowledge of how it might be. Just keep a positive attitude and in 6-12 months you'll be calling the shots. -
i was actually going to say the same thing, but then...i wasn't looking to get married either....

I hear Swift will train the husband and let him train the wife but I don't know if it's true. If it was me, I'd be all over Schneider. After that Swift, then I'd run from CRE. I'd go homeless first.
With your requirements you will have fewer choices. Most companies that train you will want a commitment of a year or close to it. If you leave early on bad terms, they will trash your DAC and credit. Just pick wisely, it can make or break your career choice.
IMHO, many companies and freight these days are not well suited to team operation. There are still opportunities though. It should work better with a husband/wife team. Many think they will double the miles a solo runs. I think that seldom happens. If my wife would run with me, I'd look at expedited or reefer freight. I hear Swift does a good job of utilizing teams but again no first-hand knowledge.
Good luck. -
guess i will have to keep looking.

i thought i heard that as well. one spouse gets hired on first(??) then the other comes on board later, goes with another trainer, then joins up with the spouse..?? someone from that company, maybe NANA or Injun may help here.
just a thought or two. -
yea thats a good idea i will have to talk to him about that, we started school yesterday and it seems like there jerkin us around, they from the get go didnt make us sign anything, didnt tell us hwo much the tuition is or anything. now we keep asking n today they took care of the paperwork wich they should of done at the beginning, and making us apply for a credit app to see if we can get the financing. so i read the fine print and it says once uve completed 10% of the training you are legally suposed to pay them after that, if you get denide the 6000 dollar credit app then you pay cash...well... #### that. but i do really wonder how allll the sorry if this may seem like a bad thing to say but ghetto low life people who dont have a job, how the hell do they continue to go to this school?? cuz i knwo they dont have the money. So idk. im not going back until they tell me if im gona have to pay. becuase ive asked the counselor guy like 7 times n hes like idk idk, im thinking how do you not know. you do this every day. and i asked why dont you do the paperwork before you start class? and hes like well we did that before but people didnt seem to liek that and im thinking?? what you mean they dont like that? why wouldnt you wanna know what your getting yourself into before you have to pay them?

I'm not one to suggest company training. If you can get financial aid or pay for it yourself, that is better.
That being said, if you are financing it, I would look at Prime. I'll share what I understand they do, but check first. They put you through training and start charging you after you finish. They take out the cost weekly over a year. Then if you a stay a second year they pay it back to you over the that year and it ends up costing zero.
Other companies require 8 - 12 monthes and you owe nothing.
I'm just pitching out ideas. Since Prime seems to want and utilize husband/wife teams, that might be worth checking out. In my opinion they are another "Mega-Company" but not the worst. You have to start somewhere and most of the choices range from okay to bad to worse.
Based on your situation and what you are looking for, if I were you, I would check out Prime because I think it would be a good fit you. I'm not personally recommending or endorsing them though. -
lol yea i havent really heard of any good company at all. its pretty sad. but thers no perfect company in the world but, there has to be a few with at decent reputation, but i have yet to find one....

I don't think you'll find a good company doing training.
