Wasn't sure whether to post this thread here or elsewhere...

I'll try to keep this short. Got a job offer with another company. They wanted me to move for the position. I got a place lined up and am going through the process of transferring my CDL to the state of Indiana. I have all my endorsements and HazMat. Took the tests, provided the medical long forms, etc. etc. The lady behind the desk issued me the temporary paper printout and the 90-day HazMat extension paper. She said they would have to request an extension on my fingerprints from the TSA before they could add HazMat to my license, but the 90-day extension letter would let me pull HazMat until that request was approved.

30 minutes after they closed on Saturday, I found a voicemail on my phone from the same lady informing me that I was 3 days past the extension request cutoff date, and I would have to apply to renew my fingerprints. I've gone and scheduled an appointment for this Tuesday.

My question is: Are the paper printout and 90-day extension letter still valid? I want to know because I would like to get the ball rolling in terms of orientation with my new company, and I need an Indiana CDL before they can start.

    Thanks.

I would call the DMV in Indiana to see how it comes up on the computer...
You do not want to get in a road side check or at a scale house and find out your Hazmat is not legit!
I would not take that chance.

It sounds like the lady you dealt with screwed something up.

Having the privilege of using both the Indiana and California motor vehicle divisions, I can say that you should be thankful for the Indiana BMV lol.

I would call the main state number for the BMV. I've always had success with them when I have had problems. There is a CDL division that they will usually put you in touch with and they have always fixed my issues and been very nice and courteous while doing it. For the most part, regular BMV employees can't mess with anything regarding mistakes with a CDL once it's been entered in the computer so that will be your best bet.

Welcome to Indiana! The BMV here is top notch, my first introduction to them was when I got my driving permit some 30 yrs. ago. I took the test and when she graded it she just look at it with no answer sheet, low and behold, I failed. It was a breeze and I was certain that I didn't fail, so my mom took me to the next town and I took the test again on the same day, the exact same test and this woman used the answer sheet sure enough I aced it.

Just a few years ago I moved back to Indiana after a couple years out of state and when I went to get my IN license, I went ahead and took a motorcycle permit test (passed). I got sent to a different woman to to get my license/permit. It was after about 45 minutes and getting my picture taken three times that I realized what she was doing. Some how messages got crossed from one end of the counter to the other. This woman thought I already had my motorcycle endorsement in the previous state and I just passed the written test and she was trying to transfer it.

Now I have a moral dilemma on my hands, stop her and tell her of her mistake or wait for her to figure out why she can't give me a motorcycle endorsement on my license. After some help from the branch manager and the woman that gave me my motorcycle permit test, I walked out the same day I went in for the permit test with a license and a motorcycle endorsement never took the riding test.....

Thank you for the advice everyone, but I've gotten it cleared away.

Spoke with the proper branches of the BMV and they let me know that both the extension letter is indeed still valid during the fingerprints processing (Which I completed today). It's also enough for me to start with my new job and I'll be going down later this week for a physical and drug test.

Appreciate everyone who took the time to reply. Knowledge for the future.
