Bright and friendly hello to all! This is my first post of these boards. I am not a trucker just yet, but I've had the idea of doing it for a few years now. I couldn't do it a few years back as my mother was very ill. She passed away in January and I am doing what she always told me to do: Go out into the world! Don't push around the same state all my life. Go to school idiot! Ha ha ha.

Anyway, yes, I used these boards to kind of help give me a better idea on trucking life and things to that nature. I have a cousin who drove, an in-law who drives, a friend and his father who both drive.

As I am only 23 I view this as an opportunity to see this beautiful country and to get savings going. I am going through Swift, simply because they offer the fastest enrollment in school and employment. I KNOW how bad Swift can be, because my friend and his father both drive/drove for Swift.

I figure I can get my chops with them (and pay off the school) and, after seeing the country, I can decide where I want to settle and get a local job. I can't tell you all how many times I've looked in the papers of the years in search of work and at least 65% were CDL jobs.

Anywho...I just wanted to say hello. See if anyone has any opinions that would be helpful for me. Just kinda socialize real quick and let you all know you'll have another trucker amongst you!

Thanks for all the help so far and I hope to learn more in the time to come!:biggrin_25514:

Thank you for the kind words! Like I said, I've been around quite a few truckers through most of my life so I do have a fairly good idea about the good and the bad. I have good feelings about doing this as I do not have a degree or certification in anything. Ha ha.

I will indeed keep you all posted on the future of my career!
