I'm totally cool with doing all trip planning (which she is horrible at) and paperwork, and paper logging (which she admitted she'd be lost if she needed to do) off the clock. I'm doing that right now in fact.

It's the obvious stuff that somebody else has a record of happening I don't like. Truck GPS versus e-logs versus pickup and shipping macros and etc. Nothing lines up.

You are doomed. It's all a bunch of crap but with different shapes and colors.

I think you and your trainer are at opposite ends of the extreme and if you can find a practical place in between it would be good.

Maybe you can find a place that pays by the hour.

I gotta play devils advocate and throw my .02 in, Stand your ground driver, minimize to what your conscience says is safe and legal. Your in training and chances are you may have some kind of incident that may warrant DOT inspecting your federal documents so CYA

If you aren't shorted on the 10 and use your 30 I would listen to the trainer....IMO

I would listen to my trainer but part of my 10s have consisted of dropping and hooking and my 30s as fueling. :/

I'm doing a run to a regular customer in Southaven, MS. It's a drop and hook account. But they go by appointment. Sometimes the appointment is at 5am Monday. I'll get there around 8PM Sunday and draw a line down to On Duty, park outside the gate and go to sleep. At 5am(4am my time), I check in, drop my loaded trailer in the dock, pick up the empty, go park in the yard and go back to sleep for a couple hours, then wake up and call dispatch at 6am.

So when it's time to complete my logs, I show 15 min on duty at 8pm, showing I dropped my trailer. Then to sleeper. Then 10 hours later at 6:15am, I drop down to on duty for 15 min to pick up my empty and roll out to my next assignment at 6:30am.

All nice and legal. Use the rules to your advantage.

That answer right there is why most are working for slave wages,do you realize that every hour you spend on doing or supervising you should be paid for? The more " free time" you give the more they ask for. If you can't make working 70 hrs you need a new job
