I have just received my social security card, I am a native American born in Canada. So what I'm reading is that I can use my license Class 1*
To work for a US company without changing my license?
To pay taxes in the companies base?
Without having to move from Canada?
Anyone have any light on this?
In what state can you transfer your Canadian license for a State CDL

Canadians can work for US companies using our license. Couple Minnesota and Wisconsin companies were always trying to recruit up here at one time. Monson and Timberline as I recall.
Cree trucker Thanks this. -
I wanted to start a thread on this topic, dual citizen truckers/Native American
So far I haven't gotten very far with contacting us companies even the bigger ones they are saying that I need to change my license to their state it's their company policy, and some are saying I need to move to that state which I don't think I really have to and then some other ones are saying we don't have loads to go to Canada. So if any has info on this, come ondancecanyon Thanks this. -

It has to do with insurance more than anything. Don't be surprised if the carrier insists on it.
Most states just do a transfer on a Canadian License, or at least they used to.
You can usually go to a driving school and ask them how much they want to just use the truck for a road test, it's not too much.
Doing a road and written test isn't that bad, some Canadian provinces are making retests mandatory from time to time now too.
In the end, there is such high demand for suckers willing to head out in a mobile prison, I mean truck, that they will let you use their truck for a test drive. This of course is only if you have a few years of solid accident free experience3noses Thanks this.
