I don't move until I talk to the consignee, get a legitimate address and halfast directions. I've been burned too many times too count, never again. Brokers and lawyers have a lot in common, they lie, lie lie and then they lie some more.

BE PREPARED for a storm of rage on the other end, DRIVERS DO NOT GET THIS *&^% NUMBER HOW DID YOU GET THIS NUMBER!?
Promises made by people presenting by appt times or cut off time blocks is generally not reliable. Many times it's in conflict with your trip planning, probably made excessively worse.
Another poster thought about your VA run, I too am curious about it. Chances are I might recall that particular run.
Your truck will get there when it gets there, but the magic is calling the Traffic Managers of the customer, shippers on your own directly to fine tune the battle plan and decide what actions to take with your own dispatcher. Get names.
I had a constant problem delivering to Sysco in Albany from McCormick or Vandenburgh in the baltimore area overnight, hustle to unload that and then beat on the truck at 100 mph to Seneca Lakes across Upstate NY to load at Akzo Salt because the dispatcher says I have to be there by 1 PM. Paper logs? Forget it. As long I beat the I-88 inspection zone trap I would have it legal and turned in after the three day episode round trip. I got put out OOS once in my life time doing that route.
The People in Akzo laughed and told me every newbie in that particular outfit is fed the same line of BS, Akzo usually loaded first come first served all day until about 6 PM every day. As soon I possessed that information the situation became more relaxed and took longer for third morning delivery back into the Baltimore Area with that good salt.
Information is part of battle in Trucking, if your information is BS, flawed or fantasy... Fix it with the people who really know. Because you cannot be a professional without very good actionable information and will probably lose your job to service failures. -
