I worked there and have read these posts and do not think it conveys how good this company can be.
A lot of people will bad mouth them but you will drive a new Pete do nothing but 1 drop and deadhead. I have deadheaded from dallas to Sonoma Ca just to go back to Lubbock Tx. also you will never touch anything just check seals. They are old school 1000 miles in 24 hours solo is to be had if you want it. A good example is Milk in Lindsay Ca going to Dalhart TX pick up in Lindsay and run it straight through unload in dalhart in 30 minutes 1100 plus miles 24 hours.Call in and deadhead back another 1100. Most every place they deliver is first come first served. They do not baby sit you so it is not a good company for new drivers who like elogs and quallcomm to schedule their days. check calls don't exist They are on the qualcomm but never used it other than for load info first day another driver told me not to worry about qualcomm except for load info. and he was right they do not care. I would run from L.A. to Montreal Canada. call in when empty and get a load from Canada to Miami fl. call in and get a load off the Winter Haven yard back to California. The whole round trip talk to dispatch 3 times. Many times I have run from CA. to Texas and empty right back to California. If you can run you will bypass waiting in Clovis NM. No apu's but they could care less about idle time. Fuel at any petro, TA , or flyin J. They will say they dont allow pets but so many drivers have little dogs. My understanding is you have to keep your dog in the truck at customers and it wont be an issue. Most drivers who complain about wait times pulling a tank are complainers about there logs and sleep schedule. Pulling a tank you sleep at the customer, shipper or tank wash and you will be golden.
This post is kinda scattered but what I am trying to convey is that they are a good company for someone who knows how to truck and doesn't need to be told what to do, babysat, or ask stupid questions to dispatch.."what about my hours??" make it look good Get my drift. It is the only company I ever worked for where drivers cruise through the yard with limo tint on the door windows and no one cares.
Also alot of family in the office do not bad mouth anyone because word will travel FAST. Amy the recruiter is Tony's wife (basically head of dispatch). Dispatch JJ is owners son. Dispatch Angel his son works in Shop.Even some drivers are nephews and uncles and on a on and on
As for the trucks running teams this is relatively new The only team I knew working here was a husband and wife that both drove there own truck (not owner ops). Where he went she went, two loaded tanks same customers. Alot of multiple loads at IRT
Some of the Products you will haul: orange juice, milk, cream (takes forever to load), cranberry juice, eggs, wine, vinegar. Vinegar and single strength orange juice surge is terrible.
If your reading this and wonder what surge feels like when it hits? Back in to a dock bumper at 10mph and you will know.
I would not have dared shared this info on this forum while working at IRT and I am sure many current employees feel the same way about their little secret but this is the real deal.
Anyway if you made it through this post I hope it finds you well.Last edited: Sep 28, 2012
xbmann Thanks this. -
Has anyone had any problems latly with the Oregon scales and log books? I heard some IRT drivers got pulled in, and got put out of service for log book violations, and now Oregon is pulling in as many IRT drivers as they can and digging deep into their log books.

nope, don't run that far west.. heard the drivers on the I5 corridor have been running wild and ruthless with their logs and Tony from Winter Haven had to go out to Cali and straighten some things out though.
