Indiana to maintain CMV efforts despite loss of 42 jobs

In a communication with the commercial vehicle industry, Capt. L. Wayne Andrews of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division said to offset the loss of jobs, ISP Supt. Paul Whitesell was transferring 42 additional troopers to the division and that over the past few years, the ISP had stepped up its training of all officers with respect to commercial vehicle enforcement.

INDIANAPOLIS Indiana State Police officials say the state will maintain its current level of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVED) activities despite the loss of 42 jobs in the unit.

The layoffs, which are effective Dec. 31, follow the November dismissals of 33 employees in the Indiana state Department of Administration and are the latest steps the state is taking to make ends meet as revenues continue to fall short of expectations.

Motor Carrier Inspectors Mark Final Day On Job

The final day of the year marked the last day on the job for 42 inspectors with the Indiana State Police Motor Carrier Division.

The state eliminated about half of the workforce of the division tasked with inspecting large trucks and school buses in an effort to trim costs.
