Taxes, I mean Texas, turns rest areas in to coops.

I live just a few miles north of this rest area. The supercoop at the mm149 was originally supposed to be for a big rest area/welcome center. After the land was donated the State decided to build the supercoop instead. The farmer that donated the land was furious and sued them over it. That is why it was not open for a long time after being built. The bad thing is they are not going to reopen the eastbound rest area.

I remember when they built it and it was never open. That explains it.

Indiana definitely loves it's rest areas. There's two huge ones just 40-50 miles away from this proposed site.

Well they don't love the ones out west of Indy. They have closed several out there. I have heard the state health board condemned them and also the chicken coop on eastbound 74 but I can't find any info on it. The coop on 74 has been closed with road construction signs blocking it for about 3 months now so who knows.
