That is correct, unfortunately you need to be a Philadelphia lawyer to figure out their split sleeper berth, as for an almost 60 guy like me, so I always just made sure I have 10 when I was down there.
Industry in Canada is too far gone...

This is what any/every trucking conversation I have, seems to turn into these days. BC is a non-stop demolition derby, Calgary city is 99% flip floppers working for $15/hr driving what can only be described as "Rolling Scrap Metal".
Walmart, Canadian Tire, Safeway/Sobey's fleets are straight up kamikazes! I mean the way their day cabs and pikes drive, they're seriously making an effort to kill themselves. Then there is GRH, XXX and other amazing local contractors....
If I wasn't doing Pikes, I wouldn't be in trucking anymore, full stop.
New Canadians in Cars are just as much of a problem, esp around slow super B's and pikes, they just go, they don't care, the maneuvers are unbelievable. They expect you to make turns like a car, and are more than ready to horn/flip you off/shout some ######## in a thick broken English accent; just like back home I guess.
At least I can get some peace on the prairies between surges of insanity in Calgary/Med Hat/Brandon/Winnipeg. Thank god for the Regina Bypass and the Flying J at Balgonie. Although, that's turning into a complete #### show now also. Anyone that's been there past 6pm knows what I'm talking about.
Also Bison, Loblaws, 4 Tracks and Day and Ross think every truckstop/rest area is a switch yard, including the fuel island!
Also WTF is with all these trucks/pikes pulled over on the hard shoulder every 2 miles with the 4 ways on? I've literally had guys pass me 6 times in a day, only to always be on the shoulder with the 4 ways on later. One night, you could see a truck every mile on the shoulder with the 4 ways on, for prob 50 miles between Swift Current and Regina!Last edited: Dec 10, 2021

^^ Running that bit between Calgary and Winnipeg come winter is madness. You can get stuck and covered in 20 feet of snow somewhere outside of butthole Saskatchewan and no person but wildlife will sniff out your dead frozen carcass. Else don't forget your thermal sleeping bags and some form of auxiliary power, flares, and a short barrel butt-end shotgun.
Another strip of highway for the bold and brave is northern Ontario from Winnipeg down to about Muskoka, if I recall right. Single lane highway, inexistent signage and lighting, just yourself and the New Canadian triple overload highway team pulling it proper by way of Mumbai, or Punjabi'stan, right behind you about to make a speedy take -- shivering thoughts.BigHossVolvo and Canadianhauler21 Thank this. -
Truck prices went up 30-40%, shop rates went up as well and are hard to find. I was waiting for oil pump for 2 months! Diesel is 3.8 per gallon!!!! But guess what , load rates are still the same and going down. This industry is ####ed
Canadianhauler21 and BigHossVolvo Thank this. -
Apparently rates are UP, but the brokers won't pass them down, there's no regulation or whatever to force them into compliance to remunerate drivers adequately. Not my game so I'm uncertain but someone else chime in who's in that field of work.
