With the high inflation being a concern, we also have a major problem with the Labor Department's Non-Farm Payrolls numbers being massively overstated for January. ADP and Bloomberg release payroll numbers before the NFP numbers and they are usually very close to each other. The Labor Dept. released a Net Positive of 150,000 new jobs but the ADP and Bloomberg payroll processing numbers showed a Net Loss of 400,000 jobs. that is a huge swing of 550,000 drop in people being employed. This is what economist call Stagflation -increases in unemployment and the increases in inflation at the same time. This has not happened since Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford.
Fun fact that is not very fun is last time inflation spiked a little less than this high this fast, mortage rates jumped to 10.75% back in November 1990.

I think you need to differentiate between voluntary and involuntary unemployment.

unemployment is simple. It's the number of people wanting a job, who cannot find one or are without one involuntarily. If I lived on my investment income I could be counted under your numbers.

Sooooo, um, theyre saying unemployment is 24%.... but everywhere you look theres job openings. Normally its one or the other, wages offered have also never been as high as they are now (for some things, i kinda think theyre still low, but meh)
So wtf is happening?
really seems to need psychologists, economists and real scientists to dig into what the issues are with some recomendations on non-political solutions. Problem being finding trusted apolitical people to both study and present findings.
We're boned it seemsBennysPennys, TROOPER to TRUCKER and shooter19802003 Thank this.
