I am cleared and good to roll with Con-Way Truckload.. Just want to be sure they say what they are will do. I know every company has a recruiter that are like sales people and like to feed a line of BS.
How do they treat the drivers with miles?
Are they weak?
Do they honor that .05 cents above VA?
Also how about that .03 cents for hauling Hazmat?

Can you sing the Canadian National Anthem yet? Better work on both the English and French versions. Might make life a little easier at the border crossings.
123456 Thanks this. -
Oh, really? You all do a lot of Canadian hauling?
-
Conway treats its drivers well, yes we do canada but its not as bad as everyone says.
-
I've been here from Feb no Canada yet
-
It's easy Crossing both borders ....unless you do or say something "Stupid" ...

I've heard good and bad from their drivers. It was a while back in 2007 I think, I asked one how he liked it there and he said it was all right. A man of few words. Another guy and his wife said they hated the place. Now the LTL side I have heard constant complaining. Probably better than most truck load companies, I would think.

I think all of the above comments are accurate. Most are happy, but you can't please everyone. The recruiters probably quoted you about 2500 miles per week average. True. Pay checks accurate, Paid extra for hazmat, northeast, 5 burroughs, canada, and extra stops on a load.
I got to Canada 4 or 5 times in two years. Most were in the first year. Then I became a finisher so usually I have to hand off the loads at the border because my student doesn't have credentials to cross. Plan on once every 3 months or so. There is some gorgeous country up there so enjoy.
I am calling TruckerPete's manager...he should have gone to Canada by now. Perhaps I will wait till February!
Seriously, if you can get in here, you shouldn't regret it. -
Cool, thanks for everyone's insight! Just the main think I always worry about is the miles and if they actually allow the driver to keep comfortable while being in the rig.
I do know theirs good and bad in every company. But when I was OTR several months ago and did speak to a few drivers and they liked it. Just don't want to go with a company and regret it.
Going to Canada, would be a new territory for me so it will be nice to experience. Only place I am not interested in is the boroughs or the northwest. -
They are forced dispatch 48 states and Canada. You have absolutely no say in where you are dispatched. Attempting to decline even one load results in Discharged Company Policy Violation on your DAC. Better make peace with that up front.
123456 and BigByrd47119 Thank this.
