They are inforcing there 65 ft law. If you are delevering more than a mile of the interestate make sure you are on a designated or access rd or be prepared to get caught. You can get a list of roads that you can run from there web. DOT.NY.Gov. She was nice enough to give me all the tabs to find it. Have not looked it up yet. I got caught yesterday in Monticello NY about 2 miles of rt 17. Just del to a lumber yard not 500ft from where the nice dot lady pulled me over. I told her the rd was not posted and its not restricted in any of the books i have ,plus i just delevered, did not matter. Need an oversize trip permit or a yearly permit. She told me its not there responsability to post them you should know it. She also told me if they catch you on a rd with a bridge marked lees than your height even though the bridge is a foot to 18 inches higher than posted, thanks to they way Ny post them they can ticket you for overheight. In ulster county where i was theres only 2 roads that are access rd, rt17/86 and 209 all other roads need an oversize permit. In the 23 years i have bin delevering to Ny never had an issue. She told me you can thank GPS because so many drivers are going where there not suppoised to.

Its amazing how many states arent even posting clearance signs anymore. I was in Spokane, WA and went under two that were unmarked.... put on hazards, went real slow and had my co driver spot me. Neither one was an issue, but i did back up traffic a bit.

They could sit on the BQE and write tickets all day for overheight trucks.

12'2 clears a 13'6. Nobody in their right mind would go street level.

Colleage just got a ticket for overall length right outside JFK airport at the usual DOT setup. The company immediately paid for it... so he wasn't so upset.... for the locals its at the end of Guy Brewer and Rockaway...

If he was making pu/del within 1 mile of the expressway, he should fight. NYC is in violation of the STAA vehicle access rule.

I used to go out to Long Island almost weekly. Even though the pay was better, it was just getting ridiculous dealing with it.
