Been thinking about applying to Central Transport because they only require 6 months of experience. I have 7 months local experience and it would be a huge step up for me right now since the last couple months I've been "on-call" and its hurting my pocket big time. Im just wondering what people know or have to say about this LTL company. Everything else I've tried looking at wants 1-2 years of experience so I haven't been so lucky to find anything any better. So, any info would be helpful to me!

I've worked there before and although every terminal is different!! My experience wasn't the best but when I was there it was ot after 50 or 55hrs . Health insurance is with the owners insurance company and no one in md would take it but I made money!

You can make money there, but they run mostly junk equipment. So if you can go there and manage to keep your CSA score clean then go for it. They get pulled over alot here.

If you go to any other big LTL, depending on where you are, you're gonna end up on the extraboard. And thats no fun

I would stay FAR AWAY from central transport. Yes the other companies do want 1-2 years experience but they do make exceptions. UPSF wanted 2 years and my friend with 6 months got hired no problem. Same with YRC they want a year and I got hired with 8 months. ABF will put you in a school but are contracted to them for a year or so

I'd do it for 6months to a year if you can't get in anywhere else. Keep your record clean and get the experience then bounce to a good LTL. They'll take you in a heartbeat cause you'll be in the LTL game. Use it as a stepping stone then you'll have your choice.
