    Hi,
    I'm new to the forum.
I'm thinking about going with a hometown company here in Scottsboro, Alabama called Meteor Express.
They pay by precentage. I've never been paid that way in my 28 yrs experience.
Does anyone know anything about this company, or have you ever hauled by percentage?
Is this something that could be worth doing?
    Thanks in advance,
    David

My husband works for Falcon Transport out of Birmingham, Alabama. He makes .22 percent of whatever the load that pays the truck. He's only been with them for 4 months and he really doesn't make much. He's getting really crappy loads that go for like 1,000 miles or more ( currently he is running from houston tx to stratton Ohio for like 300 bucks and that is 1300 miles). But he's been stuck in texas for 2 and a half days so it was the only load he could get.

I guess it all depends on what the percentage is and how much the load pays the truck. The higher the better. Alot of my husbands loads have been low paying. We are hoping once he gets more experience in him they will give him the higher loads or he will have to move on to another company. 300 to 400 bring home just doesn't cut it. The most he has brought home in 1 week was 800 that was with 5 loads in 1 week

    Hi Truckerswife,
    This is David's wife! LOL!
I'm so sorry it took so long to reply to your post.
My husband has been very busy trying to tie up loose
ends here at home & get back out on the road.
He has decided to go back to Crete. He was on medical leave
and thought he might try something new, but he has decided
that this percentage trucking is just too risky.
I sure hope your husband is making more money!
After all, that's why they leave us home alone for so long! :biggrin_25525:

Yeah i know it sucks. My husband is still trying to find a different job but he doesn't want to go work for companys like Prime, Swift or anything like that. He's looking for something local right now out of birmingham, hopefully something will come up soon. He's home sick alot ( he's been out 14 days straight right now). The pay percentage is good as long as the load pays alot but lately they haven't been. He took a load today that paid him 92 dollars just so he can get home. He needs to get out of the truck for a day or to before he goes crazy. I have to give every truck driver credit for what they do. I have way more respect for them then I ever did thats for sure. But yeah you are right. Whats the point of them being gone so long if they aren't making good enough money for us to spend (just kidding)
