Filling out the application is not important to me. It's like the color of the carpet in HQ. It feels like streamlining the process is something important to the cubicle dwellers, no disrespect intended, and not drivers. Maybe I'm wrong.

I don't understand why they would deny you.
I have several friends that did one hitch in the military and since then only use the VA. Nothing wrong with them either.

I guess in order to help you, you need to help us with what kind of company you are working for, what are their hiring standards and what is their process for hiring.

Maybe you don't realize how big this industry really is.

Just to tell you a little bit about my company, I do not have a website to apply for, there is an inherent security risk. We have potential drivers fill out an app in blue or black pen (you will not believe how many use red pens and felt tip markers).

I have set standards that we do not deviate from, like no DUIs and so on.

I would like all drivers to have hazmat endorsement, but you can't have everything.

The biggest thing is I recruit from word of mouth, I think this is the best means of finding good drivers.

You say you are an HR person for a trucking company in NJ. You want people to submit all of their personal info for a job application. Then you say that is so the info can be kept to submit for other jobs. So, are you a one company HR person or are you trying to set up a website like "PULSE by Tenstreet" to submit applications to many trucking companies looking to hire drivers?

There are a lot of vets who do not get services from the VA, one of the reasons why I think care should come from anywhere and the VA foots the bill.

Good jobs don’t need recruiters. They don’t advertise. They have to be sought out. Most Drivers have a “plan”. Always a “plan”. No promises or special treatments will change their “plan”. They’ll likely stay a year at most. They then move onto some other company offering bigger promises. Constantly chasing pie in the sky. This is why recruiters lie. Aside from unrealistic pay promises, the one phrase I consider BS is “We treat you like family”. Please don’t!!

Doug Collins mentioned that very subject. Good idea.

Thanks for asking—it’s a valid concern. Just to clarify: We’re a single trucking company, not a third-party platform like PULSE, and we’re moving away from staffing agencies and word-of-mouth hiring. We’re building a system to keep driver applications organized so we can contact you directly when relevant roles open up, no need to reapply. Your info, including CDL and endorsements, stays secure in our system—no sharing or spam. If you ever want to opt out, we’ll delete your data. We’re focused on simplifying the process and treating drivers with respect.

I can definitely make sure these are clarified in every job post. I'll find a way to organize it and standardize the process so all job posts include this information.
