I would be dead meat if I didn't know how to build working relationships, rapport with others. I'm glad the street sweeper company I looked at today was clean and their fleet looked in good shape. Big don, in the driving commercial driving industry their should be a level of professionalism you say? I'm new in this industry.

Did I say that? I don't remember saying that, but it would be a good idea. Too bad there isn't a whole lot more than there is.

No no you didn't say that I was just plain saying as a statement/ question to solicit a conversation on trucking and professionalism standard.

In the trucking industry for hiring interview appearances, is it standard clean cut, suit and tie? Or should I wear a little more laid back slacks and polo? Or clean jeans and polo? Thanks.

I've always worn clean work clothes. Decent jeans, work boots (steel toe, I don't leave home without em), and either a polo or button up work shirt depending on weather. Naturally, nothing that's gotten stained or ripped.

Be better if the tie is tattooed rather than a real neck tie!:biggrin_25523:

That would be an interesting job for awhile but I'm sure it's dusty, winters are cold and you deal with stuff like someone parked where they ain't suppose to be. I ran roll off garbage for 3 years and it was one of the most fun jobs I had. You'll probably graduate to that before a front or side loader which is left for the most experienced guy with seniority. I'd say not as frequent as roll off but you'll find stuff. A good day maybe a $20 bill. A bad day someone's squashed poodle. :)

I wonder where they dump the hopper if you have to drive back to home base each time it's full or if it holds a whole day worth of sweeping? That would be funny going through a drive thru for lunch. Good thing your married because I doubt you would pick up chicks with that ride. We'll change your screen name to Pig Pen! :)
