I can't get my swrs any lower than 2 from 1 20 and 40. I can only get out about 3 miles. I took it to my radio guy and he bench tested it and said its putting out 230 watts. New mount new coax. And a used predator antenna. I haven't tried trimming the antenna yet. I'm running a single driver side antenna. Its on a Pete 379 with cab mounted mirrors. I ran a ground wire up and bolted it to the antenna mount and checked my swrs and they didn't change. Any suggestions? Ty

Is the mount installed with the plastic washer on top?

Put a cheap radio in the truck and stop using your 48T until you correct the antenna problem. Unless supporting CB shops with expensive repair work is your goal. 230 watts is excessively high power for that model anyway, and this is when running a low SWR, a good antenna system. No doubt your shop has clipped all limiting out of it, not the best idea to begin with. Honestly you amaze me running a high dollar radio and asking the questions you have after stating "I haven't tried trimming the antenna yet.". Simply astounding. Word to the wise: run cheap low power radios while working out your antenna problems. Only when you know it is good do you put the big radio back in and run it.
Simple common sense. -
Yeap i have the plastic washer on top. OK I'm putting my galaxy dx959 back in. I wasn't trying to make anyone mad. I'm stopped at a pilot going inside to get a swr meter and 9 feet of mini 8 cable then checking my swrs

Usually the whip that comes with the antenna needs quite a bit of trimming. Check swr on ch 20 on each of your bands B-C-D-E-F. See where the swr is the lowest that will tell you how far it's off.

"I wasn't trying to make anyone mad."
I assume you mean me but that would be incorrect. No emotion involved at all. Simply trying to stop you from doing great harm to your 48T. For me to be angry it would have to be costing me something. Not possible since it is not my radio in danger. RR has a good suggestion assuming you turn the carrier down as low as it will go and minimize key up time while making measurements to reduce overheating in your 48T's final stage. The reason being he is probably correct that the stinger is so far off a 40 channel radio may not provide the information you need to see where the antenna is resonant so you can know which way and how far to go to get it within the 40 CB channels. -
Wow. Omg. I put that new 9 feet of mini 8 and I could hear so many people talking in the background. I came down from wi today and couldn't hear anybody all day. Bought an swr meter from the pilot and here's my readings. A-10, B-5, C-2.75, D-1.65, E-1.2, F-1.95,

G-2.5, h-4.5 what does those numbers tell me to do or is the antenna OK? Looking at if from the side the top of the tip is right at 13.6

OK just checked my swrs on the 48t with the meter I bought and got as follows. 1-1.35, 20-1.45, 40-1.75 that's way better than it was. The #### meter on the radio is off a little bit. Who would have thunk.so should I trim a hair off and shorten it to lower my swrs? Thanks fellas for helping me
-
I would trim 1/8" off the whip and see where it falls. I am asuuming you have the whip all the way down now. the swr's now arent bad but me personally I would trim a hair off the whip and see if they come down a little more. just my .02
