Been there too in my early years! Told me to reuse my old shift bar housing. We paid for a reman complete, so waited another day for one. Truck had twin PTO's. Tape measure to double check ever since!

Honestly most of my knowledge is getting screwed in the past and remembering it just so it doesnt happen again.

i dont even have that luxury to measure my old housing now becuase my core is gone. So i guess once i seat the trans, ill have to set my shifter and shifter cover before i torque bolts and secure everything else. dang it

yeah, this my first truck. ITs an old girl but i enjoy doing all my repairs and hands on. I do all my engine work as well. and have all the tech manuals. So yeah, sometimes it requires doing things twice when it comes to this but hey, after this if trucking doesnt work out, i can voluteer to just pull and install peoples transmissions just for the hell of it huh. haha.
but anyhow, your comment is spot on brotha

Just remember things come in 3’s and 7’s, so If you’ve hit 7 bad things you’ve got 7 good headed your way!!!

Just a tip, but if you had any trouble getting the input shaft through the new clutch. Pump the pedal a few times before you remove the wrong tranny. And if you have one. Put an angle gauge on the bottom of it before you pull it. Match the angle when you install the right one. It won’t take as long to switch in the right tranny!!! Good luck!!

Why would a guy want to go through the trouble and expense of installing a new trans then jerry rig the shifter?
I loaned my truck out for a month once to an oo that needed some help, we are talking about an international with quite a bit of room and it even had swivel seats, just turn and stand up, when I got it back the shifter had been heated and bent. I was not a happy camper.
