Great info. I won't be blind when I go in to talk a mechanic about this. I know a lot of driver's install these on their own, but it's a little above my experience especially with all of the workarounds that may be involved. I really enjoy seeing and hearing about these different setups looks like a lot of options.

Back in the day we had a guy who did mostly PTO work. Matlack would front potential owner operators the money for him to set them up with a roper style pump and emglo air compressor just under 10K....We would spend a few days in my training truck while the shop had the operator's truck and the boss would get the guy's numbers from corporate and make it appear that we were running his truck, made up fro him having to drive my old Armstrong steering Mack

Never saw any of them with driveshaft problems, etc.

He put the air operator levers for the PTO(s) on the floor under the driver seat nice and clean.

Our pumps are mounted on the trailer between the landing gear. And a PTO shaft connection at the rear of the tractor frame. Works great. You just have to park straight and don’t forget to remove the shaft before you leave.

A lot of propane tanks are set up that way. The pump is connected to the internal and you connect a shaft to turn the pump. I've seen them either hydraulic and pto driven. I've also seen hydraulic shaft. (The shaft is mounted on the rear cross member of the truck, but uses hydraulics to turn it) Our propane tanks are straight hydraulic.

Why? It’s simple and you need less hoses. Plus, you can drop off the trailer at the tank wash and you don’t need to be around to wash out the pump.

I completely forgot to mention that. Nothing beats a one hose pump off.
