You could plug a 1500W inverter into the lighter socket, but you're only going to get about 150W out of it before things start to melt.
Check the rating on the CB terminals. My Volvo has a 20A circuit for the CB. That'll work a lot better than the so-called "power outlets".

even with 20amp you wont get a lot out of the plug in inverter, indeed 1500 watts with a plug in is fishy. 1500 watt wont even come with a cig lighter plug since they must be hard wired in. One option I have seen people do if your wanting something temp and on occasions you can use booster cables to hook it up then remove when finished but that method is a pain in the arse. The fires are from people who are stupid in the setup, they dont take caution in when installing those wires and usually those fires are from wires rubbing on the metal until the rubber is gone and then poof you got sparks and a fire. I ran my wires through rubber seals like the glad hand seals plus I insulated the wires with a nice amount of electrical tape at the part where it is right inside the seal so it cant move around at all and on top of that I added some sealant to the seals so they wont knock lose and wiggle around as well plus a 150 amp circuit breaker is installed for extra security. It may of cost me a bit more money initially but its a proper much safer installation. I have not tried pushing any limits either, I got the smallest watt microwave at 700 watts plus a small coffee pot that runs 650.
As for the plug in mode you can run a laptop or a small tv and I ran my bpap machine off of it but you wont get much more out of it, my bpap does work stronger it seems on the installed one. Also if someone wants just a plug in one I highly recommend the energizer inverter you can pick up at the truck stops, I think its only 150 watts or might be 175 but it was the best cig lighter one I have used personally out of a few. -
Keep in mind that a 700 watt microwave PUTS OUT 700 watts. The power draw is usually 1000 plus! Microwaves do not like modified sine wave inverters.

i ran a 1,100w microwave for 2 years on a 1,500w road pro invertor
-
I didnt think a road pro would even last 2 years, why I spent more on my inverter.
I know I could of got a more powerful microwave but wanted to limit watts plus the microwave is a nice size to fit in one of my cabinets. I store mine in the tv cubby hole and use the tv ties on it since I dont waste my time owning a tv.flood Thanks this. -
What coffee maker did you go with? I use a Mr. Coffee. Nothing like making the perfect cup of coffee anytime you want. I make Starbucks coffee. I use a plastic 9oz cup. I fill it up 2 3/4 times then a mounding 1/4 cup of coffee so it's the same every time.

That's what I was thinking I have seen a few 300w in the stops that have the plugs and i figure if I just it for laptop or game system and just get one of the plug in televisions should be fine just don't try to run everything at once

I use the farberware 5 cup, it was $20 and a little more than the cheap Mr coffee but I like it

Interestingly enough I was in a WalMart in automotive and they had a 750w that can be plugged in or hardwired. 69 dollars right next to it was a 300w for 39 like I said I can get a plug in tv and only use the inverter for the laptop game system just want to get a big enough one so if I ended up with a high demand device it would handle it
