You can make good money hauling local but the broker may get irritated if you do it too much. As far as the bid for cargill just figure what you want per mile within reason. I would figure it on running miles because probably coming back empty. Guess it depends whether you can stay busy local or need to go OTR to make the best money
Talk with the farmer today and ask him what information Cargill will need when you get there. Figure that out so you can get un-loaded. Figure out how&when to get paid. Figure a rate simular to what you are gitting on the 8 loads you are hauling now. Try the load the farmer has on Monday If you are feeling adventuresome. Collect the money. Worst case scnerio give Eclipse 10%.
PP,...As long as you have your own authority there is no reason to include the broker on the freight you find on your own,...Haul all the corn yous can and make the money,.....For yourself,....
And there is no reason to tell the broker what your hauling or for who,..If you have your own authority,...
He's actually lucky to have a farmer who wants him to haul. Here most of the farmers have their own trucks. Of course some truckers will haul cheaper than the farmer can and they will use them.
i have a little over a year experiance and there is not to many jobs out there.i cant work right now anyway . but good luck
Pharm runs on Eclipse's fuel card. If he does't use their card on the loads he finds himself he sould be fine. He has his own authority and a farmer that wants to use him I hope he gets the work. This is a shipper that Pharm met through Eclipse and If he uses fuel to haul the load charged from Eclipse's fuel card he may have to pay the 10%. This is just my thoughts on the potential load on Monday. Not future loads once he figures out the Monday load.
Did you have to sign a broker contract with eclipse? That would probably be the deciding factor as to it going through them or not.
I am sure he probably did. One advantage for Pharm is the fact that he has his own trailer. I am sure he would rather haul these loads through Eclipse. They are just going to be too slow making it happen.
