Ahhhh, another one of the costs assoc. with being a O/O, NOT to many ppl.think to include these little taxes into their PEP.

I think they should have PRO RATED the amount to you form the time you owned the truck.

They should have. Its probably puter generated and picks up on the current registration. How could you owe anything from 2008? Your purchase was in 2009....

I moved out of GA because of that tupid advolorum tax. In my opinion it's the most unfair tax in the country

Does the tax follow the VIN on the truck or the registered owner at the time? Might be something to look into.

Yes well we know how it ends when you fight city hall. I'm just going to get reamed without lube and that's pretty much all there is to say about it. :biggrin_25516:

Oh well I'm sure the Great White Hope can skip of month of maintenance... again.

In Kansas we have to fill out a form saying what trucks and trailers we own. Then the Kansas Dept of Revenue figures out what they are worth and the tax on it. Would seem you would have had to fill out a form but each state is different.

In some states if not all, if the previous owner of the truck hasn't paid his highway use tax it follows the truck. So maybe that's what you're getting billed for. Give them a call.

    Fratsit Thanks this.

You will get one for each and every vehicle you own.:biggrin_2551: :biggrin_2553: Don't remember if any of it is prorated. They have books that determine the value of the vehicle and base the tax on that. It is NC's system to spread the tax load around and in theory keeps real property taxes lower.
