They are a "rendering" company. Apparently when large animals die of whatever causes you can call these people and they will come remove them. At that point nothing is left to waste. They sell the hides for leather, use the organs and muscle for protein meals, isolate the fats etc. The final product I hauled was a brown ashy powder used for feeds and fertilizers. I don't like the picture either. The sight made me a little queasy.
nothing is wasted when animals go there... here's a useless piece of information, in many areas it's against the law to bury an animal on your property, so they end up there.
Not useless, but still going to pretend I never heard that. I like my animals close for memorialization purposes. Buried my dalmatian at my mother's in FL. Big no no there especially since the aquifer is so close to ground level.
Did I say something? I can tell you that none of my horses left here after they died and neither did the dogs. Not to get real involved in the cow thing, but they have to be up, standing and able to walk if they are going for meat. Or so they say. A lot of cows and calves die from all kinds of things so they are rendered. It's gross but a fact of life I guess.
Rob. I haven't read this whole thread but did you ever address what was wrong with being a pharmacist? because most of us are always trying to find some way to get OUT of a truck.
It's not trucking that makes you feel that way. It's anything you feel trapped in doing. Plus trucking sucks more when you're broke and stressed. I haven't gotten there yet. Knock on wood.
