Another good place to find some really good used tools is a pawn shop...:biggrin_25520:

Yup. Just watch the deals.. sometimes they are proud of em. Hate to say it but crackheads are the best source for buying cheap tools.

NO NO NO!! Most tools in pawn shops are stolen. New tools aren't that much. I had standing orders on my construction crews, buy tools out of the back of someone's truck would cost you your job. Took a couple of forced exits to get my point across.

Most often they aren't theirs. The last experience I had with a crackhead and tools nearly cost me my life, he was taking mine.

He who buys needs to be punished twice as much as he who takes!!!!

    Hey Rob,
Sounds like times are tuff for you right now, but keep your head up. I know I am new around here but I have found myself in your shoes many times, so I know what you are going through. If you ever make it to the east side of Nc look me up. I would be more then happy to show you how to PM your truck.

See, everyone thought I was a nut when I bought my "work in progress" truck. To date I've learned more from that truck just sittin' in my driveway than a lot of people who have been on the road for a time. At least that's what I think. But then I've been wrong before. Once maybe, lol.
Good luck to anyone on here with an old truck or one that needs help.:biggrin_25525:

I found this out the hard way a couple years ago, I was walking out of a local auto repair shop and a guy walked up to me and asked if I was interested in buying some used tools, I normally would have said no and kept walking, but I said I would look at them , he had a small tool box and opened it , it had an assortment of Snap-on Mac, and craftsman tools. I asked him how much and he says $60.00 , well at that price I could'nt pass them up.
Well the very next day I get a phone call from the local county sheriff:biggrin_2551: you guessed it , the guy got busted and the tools where stolen, I got the tools to the sheriff ASAP and they did'nt give me any problems but I was out $60.00.
That was the first and the last time I'll ever buy anything in a parking lot.

You don't need luck ,what you need is beer and a few ppl with the know how. Just keep it on ice until the job is done.

Maintenance / driving tip for the day:

A clutch should be PROPERLY adjusted, which is not hard to do. Then adjust the pedal linkage to attain the proper pedal free play. A clutch can be adjusted right and pedal free play be off considerable. That is why the pedal linkage is adjusted correctly after the clutch.

After this a clutch should not need adjusting again for one to three years or more, if the truck is driven right. A clutch that needs constant adjustment is being ridden on take off, started in too high of gear, or the rears are geared too high for what the truck is used for.

A truck that is used on soft ground/dirt with heavy loads is the exception. If your clutch needs constant adjustment, look at your driving habits. Keep your foot off the throttle when releasing the clutch.

It is easier and cheaper to start in a lower gear than to wear out a clutch.
