You just described half of our trucks.......well, our radios work.......sometimes.

No wonder they call us "Oilfield trash".........just look at the truck and fill in the blanks about the driver.

The hours are long and the pay aint that great.....you're home every day....and you can still call yourself a truckdriver.......well most days anyway.

Why is it that every road driver wants "Something Local" so they can be home every day..........

and every "Local" driver.........like us..........wants their own truck so we can be gone from the house longer.

I've thought about this for a long time...........it MUST be an illess of some sort.

    Valid opinions wanted.

well, i can tell you my reason for even getting off the road.

TEAM SUCKS..... PERIOD. my trainer was all right. but you could never tell if she was your friend or not your friend. my first real teamer only lasted a month. he wasn't toooooooooo bad. but the guy after him. we won't go into details.

i can say this though. sleep drive sleep drive. and not getting sleep from the truck bouncing around. that got old(to me anyways). i used to love travel before going commercial. but man, i didn't even want to drive going local. i was burned out.

unless she's a she and has great friendships skills. it's solo for me anymore.

Because you always want what you don't have?

    I dunno, that's all I got.

Glad to know we're not alone out here with our junky equipment, apparently it's just an oilfield thing.:biggrin_2559:

Speaking of the hours. If getting up at 3:30am isn't bad enough, there's a frac tomorrow and the alarm will have to be set for 2:00am. Can't you sand haulers bring the water too? Jeez.... :biggrin_25523:

Guess you answered you own question or solved your own problem.

Personally.......I can count on one hand without using up all the fingers the people I feel totally at ease sleeping behind.

Tried teaming with one of them.........MY SON..........for ONE run and couldn't do it. I love him, but I just CAN'T be cooped up in a truck with him.

I can and have chased him down the road for many miles and we talk on the radio and eat together and have no problems..........same space is the problem.........for both of us.

It's the same way with my old man. We used to run up and down the east coast together, but back home we couldn't be in the same room with each other for more than an hour. Never tried teaming with him. We'd probably kill each other!

I'm with dino on this one. Never drove team and don't intend to start. I prefer the independence over the companionship of having another driver with me. There's always the CB, CD's or radio to listen to. I'm not a loner...I'm married and all that. It's just how I prefer to roll.

You all just need someone to team with like my old man. I started to run with him team when I was bout 16 (yeah yeah no cdl who gives a crap) cannot voice your opinion and do things his way or he'd let you out in the middle of new Mexico, son or not. Grind gears and all of a sudden u get a sucker punch to the back of your head out of the sleeper. I didn't argue though did what I loved and the man taught me everything and how to make money in this business. Legal or not it's gotta be done. I lasted 2 years with the man in the truck and bought my own. And we can run together like men, talk about ####tin with the door open, women, beeches, and how to make your own beef jerky but we can't be around each other while not trucking for more than a day nowadays. Old people are set in there ways and my dad is as old school as it gets. I'm from the same mentality in trucking but I'm a punk at heart.
