It was easier to cast that #### ring into the fires of Mordor then it's been to get this trailer out today. Sent 5mouths to pick it up and he got into the area, the tow guy calls me back, "oh by the way you need a release from the NB scale to pick this up"... apparently they're dying to give me my no KYU award. This should be fun.
I just checked into Ryder for a flatbed and truck rental online rates. Truck is $400 per week and .07 cents per mile. Flatbed trailer is $255 per week and .09 cents per mile. Given 2500 miles per week your monthly bill would be $4,220
I guess it's my fault. I tried to redirect it into something informative and useful, it almost went as planned. Almost.
No, you wouldn't have to be losing air. One of the valves could be gummed up with compressor oil and not fully opening or closing. Are you able at all to make button shifts in the 7/8 - 9/10 gears? If not, I would highly suspect the air system.
Ok speculation is over. Need a deal on a RTLO-16-6-10B Had water in it before, has new water in it now, Auxilliary Drive/Backdrive Synchronizer shot and a series of things I don't even remember. Also gears 9/10 DID used to be automatic, it's been bypassed before. This also explains the gear lube in the motor that last breakdown, it wasn't oil after all probably. So probably also need a new tranny cooler or swap to air cooled.
Not surprising. I didn't want to bring up the fact that it might be stuck in high range because the aux section was shot. Whatever you do, do not get another "Super 10" RTLO-16610B. That Super 10 is one piece of shat. If I was you, I'd get a good old straight 10. No stupid splitter buttons to fumble with, just the range lever. Plus it's far cheaper to pick up at a salvage yard than a 13.
We got around it, he went in as his own company name and they didn't require the release at the tow place. In fact they didn't even show up to check, just told him where it was and it was open.
