I know what im talking about ive been around trucks all my life. For once the day i drove i wasn't the one in the passenger seat i felt #### good and for someone to tell me i know nothing is a real downer. I know what im going to do im going to go to college study diesel mechanic's if you knew me you'd know my plan and not gang up on me. If i want to i could run a truck after college and then open my own shop. Ive got my stuff together this is something ive though about many times so this is me and this is my plan. Im not giving advice im not saying cmon rob drop a 13 in it and let me drive. Im not new to this i know trucking the good and the bad side. And another thing im not giving advice like others give that know what there talking about. I know what it takes im not some kid that just comes here to see the picture's. Another thing we have no such thing as a volvo we have a kenworth a real truck not a re packaged car.Last edited: Sep 25, 2009

Isn't the core a wash with the old one?
-
You'd pay $250 for that used tranny as long as you gave him your old one. -
Luis I'm sure you can drive a truck down the road, just as I'm sure you were giving me a hard time to be funny. I shift just fine, my problems have been entirely in reverse at 2 miles an hour in a single gear.broncrider and Luis Thank this.
-
Yea man i was just trying to make a wee crack you know how i am half the time bs half the time serious. I know nothing about reverse really so i have no say in that really.(See people i didn't open my mouth and say something stupid)

An RTLO16610B is a "super 10 speed". I'll break it down:
R = Roadranger
T = Twin Countershaft
L = Low Inertia
O = Overdrive
16 = Torque X 100
6 = Design Level 6 / Multi Mesh Gearing
10 = Forward Speeds
B = Gear Ratio
and if it had a -T2 at the end that means Top 2 automatedampm wayne, The Challenger, Gears and 3 others Thank this. -
We'll be the judge of that...

Yeah, you know what you are talking about. What truck did you drive? How long did you drive it? Where did you drive it? (farms or a private parking lot do not count), what kind of trailer did you pull with it?
See where I'm going with this? Look, I'm not trying to be mean to you, but you are trying to tell someone who has actually BEEN to a CDL school and who has actually DRIVEN several THOUSAND miles in a Peterbilt with a Super 10 that he needs to learn how to drive it?
Yes, you ARE new to this. And no matter how much you claim that you know the good and the bad side of trucking, trust me.......... YOU DONT. Neither did I at age 42 when I went to CDL school. Scared the BEJEEZUS out of me driving that monster around the streets with 4-wheelers. Then getting in that Pete 379 at TMC was even WORSE. TRUST me, you have NO IDEA what it takes. 12 years in the Marine Corps STILL did not prepare me for being on the road in a truck for 3 weeks, let alone SIX.
Read, listen, learn, then when you are old enough to actually try putting some of this knowledge to use, give it a shot. But trust me, it's NOT how you think it is. And for the record, I have NEVER met an adult who ended up doing everything they said they would and exactly what they wanted to do at age 16. You are going to change careers SEVERAL times in your life, just like 85% of most Americans.
Sorry, dont mean to be harsh, but I have a sneaking suspicion you are filled with wild ideas about the "glamorous" career of being a truck driver.
