Is it to late to disable the EGR once this goes bad or can you just go ahead and unhook it and forget about it? I have seen a were a couple of others drivers on another forum have unhooked the EGR on their Cummins as well but I wasnt sure if it is a moot point once it starts going bad.

How about a quick run down on how to avoid the Chicago tolls? -
I can answer that one.... "Stay out of Chicago"
Sorry...couldn't resist. Anytime I get in that area, it's just a suburb usually to the South or Southwest and I'm lucky that I don't have to go through all that mess you guys are.Big Red Thanks this. -

I'm not crazy about running in a ton of 4wheeler traffic. I suppose it would be much easier if you knew your exits and have been through the area a few times. Reminds me of trying to get out of LA-LA land during afternoon rush. It was a Friday, and to top it off, there was an accident we all had to deal with miles ahead of us. What a parking lot that was!

I think every big city has its unique traffic problems. When you live in one and drive in the same traffic everyday you learn the fast way through it. Sometimes there isn't an easy way though.I can fly through Houston any time of the day and other cities I am like everybody else sittin and waitin.

There are several good ways into Wisconsin without paying tolls, the one that Pharm used is the easiest unless you are going to Milwaukee or that part of the state.
You could also run US 30 to IL 47 to US 14 and cut up that way.
You could take 94 thru town and up US 41 which will meet back in with 94 right at the state line.
There are many other less apparent ways to do it, but I would get you lost.lol
The first year and a half that I drove, I did Chicago area everyday hauling steel coils to the various slitting plants around there. Once a week or so, I had to take one up to Milwaukee as well. That is where I gained my knowledge o Chicago, granted it has been over 10 years since I did that job, I have a pretty good memory and still use some of those old "shortcuts" today when I go to/thru Chicago.
