Yeah, that's not really a complete conversation. I'd rather learn than win, but I think your point was clear, I'm just not willing to do it. BUT, I'm not crazy, if I know there's a situation between paying a bill or surviving, I am of course going to survive instead. I'm just not going to pre-plan ignoring debts for months just in case, that's really the only difference.

Completely agreed. I hope he takes it well.
Also this isn't about taking a moral high ground, it's just that I've been there. I had terrible credit for years, and didn't feel very good about myself or my ability to better myself until it was over. I just don't want to go down that road again. I've been bit, and it hurt like heck.
Of course doing it this way I got bit too, and it hurt too... but I didn't feel quite as bad about my part in it... so whatever that means. -
