A buddy of mine just rolled his truck and trailer today. He was pulling a load. Hes been an independent o/o for almost five years pulling flatbed. Hes curious, myself as well bc I drive, how much his insurance will go up or if he will even be able to get insurance. If you know a company that will please include info. Thanks guys. Hes ok too, but I'm sure he'll be sure tomorrow.

No telling, 11 yrs ago, I had an accident. And was at fault. Truck was Totaled.I had Ooida ins. Never saw any major increase. To my surprise.Waited 3 yrs before switching to save money.I may have been able to switch sooner, I’ll never know.A friend of mine rolled twice within a few yrs. Kept Trucking for same outfit. Hope it works out.

Ok. I used to drive for a local company with him and they would fire you same day almost for one of the three r's: rear end, rollaway, or rollover. I assume it was because you would be too expensive to insure after that.

It depends on what his risk to the insurance becomes, a roll over if avoidable can increase insurance a lot.

So on Ins. Why is it that Major Carriers who are Self insured. Fire a Driver after a Major, then will re hire after 1 yr? (As long as they were accident free). Is it because they have a Major disaster policy with premiums to protect. Or just a #s (statistics) game to remain self insured?Or some sort of requirement?

Leaving a truck parked without setting the brakes and going into a truck stop for instance, and then coming out to find your truck rolled into a truck. Or not leaving the brakes set and a forklift goes into your truck, pushes it forward, and falls in between.

I really dont know on that. Like you said, they're self-insured. One guy I worked with took off at a green light and forgot a vehicle was in front of him and just barely bumped them. (The guy was barely 5 ft tall so I guess he couldn't see over the dash, or he popped the clutch and wont admit it). Anyway he was automatically suspended for a couple weeks and he was able to keep his job, but he said in most cases he would of been fired. He was accident free for 10 plus years so that helped.
