Last week I was climbing into my truck and the truck next to me took off and there sleeper extended out past the cab and it grabbed my door and opened it up further. needless to say it messed it up pretty good. the woman that hit me was nice and got right on the phone with her insurance company and admitted fault. She passed me the phone and I gave them my info they said they would pay my damages no problem just to go where i would normally take it and get a quote. So I did that there going to have to replace the door plus gonna have to paint it and change hinges and a few other things. I still have to get a quote to decal new door and of coarse quote doesn't include the possibility of discovery of other things needing replace once they start taking things apart. but does look like i will be inuring some downtime at least a week maybe more depending on how long parts take.
Problem is I really cant afford downtime im keeping up with the bills but that's about it if im down I wont be able to pay my bills currently things been pretty slow just trying to weather the storm till things pick back up. I think the insurance should pay for my down time. Is that an unreasonable request how does all that work how soon can I get paid for it and also what if it ends up being a little longer then anticipated due to repairs taking longer. do I put in additional claims.

They should either pay for your downtime for a rental truck
-
Agreed, It is more likely they will pay for a truck rental for the time yours is in the shop. Shouldn't need an additional claim, add it to the current one.
-
Yep gather up all your info and break it down to show how a day you are doing
Let them know ahead of time about this -
Agreed
When I got backed in to in Winchester va. last October the insurance company paid for my damages off the estimate and then paid me a lost revenue payment.
The lost revenue was for down time while the truck was being fixed.
On a little side note if someone hits you and claims full responsibility try not to give out any of your insurance info if you don't absolutely have to.
Even though you have no fault what so ever you insurance company can hold it against you that you were involved in an accident.
When I was backed in to I withheld all my insurance info because I was in the sleeper at the time of the accident and not at fault.
The other drivers insurance paid and they had no knowledge of who my insurance co. Was. -
When I worked in the office of a trucking company, if one of their trucks was put out of commission, they would back charge the the offending party's ins co $650 a day.

When my truck got totaled I did not have to say a word about my own insurance.
Agreed with the others on losses that are piling on you, file em I say. Add em up.
