Establishing my mc. I am not able to find anybody who will insure me. 6 months cdl and NY state is definitely problem.
Progressive insure only in 500 miles radius.
I even not able to get the truck out of a dealer, because nobody will sell me temporary bobtail insurance.
    Any ideas?
    thanks.

There is a reason for all this. You need experience and learn the business before jumping wildly in it. There I just saved you at least $20,000. :)

So you bought a truck and tried starting a business w/6 months experience without first researching all that's needed?

This folks is why freight rates are what they are. These are the people pulling $1 a mile freight because they didn't do the research before jumping in head first. The only concession is they won't be in business long.

    snowwy and jbatmick Thank this.

Nope. I just found what I want. I do a lot of research. Doing it now. Will go to a dealer as soon as I find any insurance.

Hah. :). You are right. But all situations are different. I will start with one brand new truck for me, which I will get for cash. Then I will buy a few more. I risk investors money and waiting to get an experience will simply result a loose of money. I have some time, but need to start it asap.

Lease on to a major carrier for another 6 mos to a year and then go get your own authority

Progressive is the only insurance company that I know of who will insure someone with little or no experience. Progressive has been test marketing to expand their coverage area to unlimited or 48 states. I don't think it is yet available all over the country. If you want to get your authority now, you may need to live with the 500 mile radius until you gain more experience. Your other option is to way 6-18 months until you can go with a different insurance company. You can stay in the northeast and stay within the 500 mile radius, but it may be challenging.

It's a great idea. I am on this way. But, for example, Schneider doesn't provide temporary insurance to pick up truck from a dealer. ) I am researching. Will make more phone calls tomorrow.
