First get you a quote from Progressive. They most likely are the only one that will give you insurance. My cost with no experience and 42 years old was like 24K if I remember right. If you can pay insurance for the full year you can get a good discount.
Second I would really consider hard on what you want to run trailer wise and then figure out what kind of truck you want to run. If going used make sure to do your homework on the truck. This will break you very fast as a rebuild will cost you 20-30k and very well could need done the first month or 12 months with a used truck. Make sure to keep at least 30K after you buy truck and trailer just incase you need to rebuild motor or replace a transmission.
Being young has its advantages and can make a lot of money if you learn fast. Good Luck! Ask lots of questions before you pull the trigger. no question is dumb.....

Trained my boy and works for the carrier I run for. He has almost spotless mvr. Got cited once for unsecured load in a pickup truck. Non moving violation. The carrier we work for is charged 20,000$ per year to insure him. Progressive.

Well I just went onto progressive and got a quote. I was guessing 40k. No too far off.
This is with telling them I'm not going more than 300 miles. This quote must be on the higher side because they have no way of knowing that I have a perfect driving record. I would assume that would make somewhat of a difference. I guess if I reach out to an agent they will be able to get an exact quote for me which will hopefully be lower.
Even if its not, I would assume that after a year the rates would drop a good amount assuming I have no accidents or tickets.
So back to what I didn't really want to do... would working with a local company running rock trucks or delivery trucks for 6 months help me get a more reasonable quote? Or would the difference not be worth it?Attached Files:

Unfortunately I believe insurance companies are not allowed to check credit scores in WA which really sucks.
