When I start CDL classes I will be intentionally homeless. Can I get insurance for my personal property?
I will also have items in a storage locker.

check with an insurance agent, at an insurance company near you, or call nearly any 800 number. for the storage units, ask them, they may have a company you can go with. i am not sure of your personal items in the truck however. you would need (i would think) a police report of a break in and probably an itemized list of things with pics, of what was stolen. too much to bother with.

    buy cheap crap.

Most home owner or renters insurance will cover your personal items while traveling or working for a small additional fee. I think it costs me an extra $25 a year to have this coverage on my homeowner policy, covers up to $25,000 in tools and belongings on my truck and person while working.

He still has to have a physical address to obtain and keep the cdl, just use that address for renter insurance, a whole year policy for renters insurance is only about $200. As for the storage locker, Uhaul has property coverage available with the rent, so those items will be easily covered. I would imagine most other self storage places would also have this type of coverage.

    why worry about it?

i never did. makes no sense to spend money for insurance, and NOT get 100 % of the money spent on the items, cuz no one carries the sales receipts. buy cheap crap, or stay home..it's all really that simple.

    a caveman can understand it.

see, what did i tell ya.

Pick a storage unit where people live around it and can see what's going on. Small town. Some places require insurance and will sell it to you if you don't have it.

Buy a "renters policy". You don't necessarily have to have an active storage or apartment unit. Trucks burn to the ground all the time. Some people carry a lot of "valuable" stuff, some don't. Most would find the premium and the deductible would be less then what they could actually claim if they lost everything of theirs that was in the truck. If you do carry any very expensive stuff such as cameras, these might need to be added on a schedule for a few dollars more.

Regardless, log your clothing, electronics, radios, GPS, laptops, etc and any other personal items that have a value and save this up to a cloud storage. Most will be surprised what all their stuff adds up to, and how much they can forget or take for granted as it pertains to personal belongings in a truck.
