I have question about dental insurance for those who works for big companies.
I am working for small company and dental insurance is covering only regular exams and cleaning. When I needed root canal or I had dental absces, I have to pay out of pocket, which was thousands...
My question is are big companies like usxpress, werner, schneider....etc....are they offering better plans for dental?
I am paying right now one of the most expensive they are offering for dental, but it still didnt covering everything

i cannot say about bigger companies, but as a general rule, dental coverage is spotty. until you get onto Medicare and a supplemental coverage like Blue Cross/Blue Shield, like i do, and 100% is covered.

(every company i ever worked for had crap dental coverage, or HIGH deductibles and HIGH premiums, and THAT was from a union shop...!)

i could suggest you apply for a "Care Credit" credit card, that is used for dental, eye glasses, and they now allow that card to be used for your pets at the vet office. you just CANNOT use this card for say, buying a tv, motorcycle, etc...etc...it is for your health care (dental)

dental insurance was always that way, covered more of the preventative work than major repair not to mention nothing towards any gum disease...

We have used care credit several times, it works as it has incentive to pay it off quicker, if you can, at less interest.

    26%APR

I had a quick look through and just can't see why anyone would use a care credit card over a regular one that often has introductory 0% interest and can be used for TVs and Motorcycles etc in addition to medical costs.

the thing is, it prevents you from over spending on such items, putting you into a deeper hole.

i have the care credit myself. my dentist did not (at the time) accept my health care coverage, as it was a crappy one, then too, the office had a terrible time collecting from them.

now that i do have Medicare AND BC/BS, i am golden..!!!!

so now my care credit has a zero balance, and at the very least, it has helped build up my credit worthiness.

also, many times, they offer 90 days, same as cash..pay it off in that 90 day period and it'll be ZERO interest...!!!!

I have a care credit for dental, so does my wife. It’s same as cash for 12 mos. per procedure. But if not paid, within 12 mos. it’s retroactive, all interest due for the past 12 mos. I recently juggled some onto another 0%, to avoid the interest. Other times, I just pay the balance. Most dental plans suck, free cleanings every 6 mo. Maybe one major root canal, and 3 fillings, annually, covered at 50% of cost. I’ve found a few discount dental clinics in my area. Haven’t used one yet. But for routine stuff, I’m going to.

Dental insurance is traditionally bad for any kind of restorative work, and rarely pays for much of it. This is regardless of where you work and they kind of dental coverage they offer. When you need to get major dental work done, shop around because prices do vary A LOT depending on where you go. Also make sure that you look up reviews on the dentist or oral surgeon before getting the work done. Some of them are horrible people.
