I just started looking into it today and know nothing about being a trucker. What would be the best way to get started in this field? I read the stickies for this sub-forum and did a bit of google searching already and know some basic information, but I would like to know from experienced people.
A bit of background:
I'm from San Diego, 23 years old and have social anxiety. I went to uni after high school for about half a year, dropped out due to anxiety. Stayed at home till 19 years old. Attended Job Corps to leave home and find something to do. Stayed there for a year and got some temp jobs in the IT fields afterwards. That didn't work out very well for me due to bad job opportunities, so I joined a community college and attended for 2 years majoring in physics. This was a year ago and I'm a few units from transferring , but I had to stop attending due to financial issues. I had to move back in with my mom about a year ago and barely able to pay anything with the money I've started making from streaming games.
I have nothing tying me down and I want to make some investment in my future and I think this might be the way to go for me. I detest being home and I like being away from people. My intention is to work at this for about 2 years, save up and go back to school. If I enjoy it I might even continue doing it. Downside is I barely have any work experience and barely any knowledge of motor vehicles. I have free time and I want to use it to learn.
I feel this is the right place to ask for advice, if I'm wrong though, feel free to delete this thread.
I would really appreciate the help, thanks.

What do you think you would like about trucking?

If you have anxiety trucking will be a nightmare for you.

Go to a cheap but accredited CDL school and then Apply to companies for a job. You learn from your companies training, cdl school is just to get the license. I chose TMC because their training is one of the best and they pay a lot for new drivers out of cdl school.

Because you have to navigate a very large vehicle in cities and tight areas. Deal with scales, DOT, rude shippers and receivers etc. You have to know how to keep your cool.

It's very hard to become a trucker without going to school because of insurance requirements.
I got into it without school by renting a truck for the test, going on the wheat harvest, and finding a local guy that took a chance on me. -
