Metalmanuel, what state are you located in? There are truck rental/"schools" all over the place that will rent you an automatic truck for a couple hundred bucks and give you two hours of instruction on backing and turning the day of your scheduled DOT test so that you can pass the driving exam. Granted, it ain't exactly thorough but it does get your class A in your pocket so that you can get paid company training.
Interested in becoming a trucker

How would I document periods of being in school? Doesn't seem right to show transcripts at an orientation.[/QUOTE]

I've never heard of anyone having to show transcripts. Just put the years down you were in school. Prime pays $600.00 a week while you're with a trainer. Don't know of any other companies that pay that well for training.
With anxiety, stay away from refrigerated trucking. Dealing with grocery warehouses is like a sane person being suddenly thrown inside an insane asylum with no warning. If you've seen the movie with Jack Nicholson, "One Flew Over The Cookoo's Nest", that's similar to what it's like walking into a grocery warehouse.
In my opinion, your best fit will be flatbed. -

Thats not fair, there a many people doing jobs they hate yet they continue to do them because of the paycheck. The number of people hate their job vastly out number the ones who love their job.
You know people are happy when they say career vs job. -
Most will ask you to send/fax transcripts b4 you go to orientation. Others just call the school to verify.
