You could check union halls for apprenticeship programs. I would probably do that and get the CDL. Unions dont call back for 6 months sometimes or longer or never. In Chicago union guys make around $50 an hour.
But the economy is slowing, interest rates are high, which makes building more expensive. Trucking companies are laying off and going bankrupt. So they might be more picky.
Call Schneider, Swift, prime, Melton. Ask them about your dui.
Oh apprenticeships make around $25 an hour first year.vinnyfibonacci Thanks this. -
thanks. i will call them and see tomorrow.77fib77 Thanks this.

Western express is a 2nd chance carrier. They might consider youblairandgretchen Thanks this.

Some of that stuff on your record is so old, you may not even have to put it on an application; depends on how the questions are asked on the applications.
Trucking companies will find out anyway, but if the offenses are pretty old they won't be held against you.vinnyfibonacci Thanks this. -
WIOA grant pays for cdl school, free to you.BlessedWayy and vinnyfibonacci Thank this.

With your driving record no Maga carrier will touch you..
Drugs.. more then 1 charge
Hit & run
DUI less than 10 old some are 7 years
Multiple suspensions
These are big RED flags to companies and insurance companies
Drugs will be a red flag for federal hazmat background check.
The only companies that will hire you are going to be companies you don't really want to work for."white Volvo mafia Chicago" or any company that require you to be a 1099 employee comes to mind BUT you may find a dumptruck company that will take you..
As some have said if they will pay for training TAKE IT in a trade like plumbing electrician, ac.
Three years from now you'll be making better money than you will three years from now as a truck driver AND you'll be home every night and weekends..
I know it may not be what you want to hear but it's the way the trucking industry is..
If you still want to get you cdl.. get on the phone and start calling every company you can find and be frank about your record ALL of you record not just driving but police... because they will find it. Then after you have at least 3-5 that will take you then and only then go to schoolaussiejosh, Vic Firth, Concorde and 4 others Thank this.
