    So how much more ####ed up will a truck get running that ramp vs gravel? Looks like it'll be totalled at the end of it.

    A higher cost to maintain. It will get shelved for some other way like soft gravel pit

    Not totaled. Will need a new radiator and hood though.
    Thing is, even if totaled it will be safer for not only the driver, but anyone near that intersection. Less lives lost, and same damage to truck is still a net gain.

    A lot of engineering costs, too. Looks like same tech as safety reels, just much larger.

    I'm suppose it's designed to act like the catch cable on an aircraft carrier, just a little less violent.
